CERTIFICATIONS for communities and environment

These are the certifications companies sometimes use to ensure sustainable manufacturing and environmental responsibility.

Look for these labels when shopping. 

GOTS

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

FSC - Forest Stewardship Council

FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. The FSC Principles and Criteria provide a foundation for all forest management standards globally, including the FSC US National Standard (v1.0) that guides forest management certification in the U.S.

Bluesign

Bluesign is an organization that is set up to ensure that production standards are ensured throughout the product's manufacture. Starting with the sourcing of raw materials, following with the components manufacturing, and finishing with the final assembly. Bluesign accredited products ensure that standards are met throughout the entire production process. These standards seek to minimize environmental impact and maximize sustainability. The standards monitored include: resource productivity, consumer safety, water emission, air emission, occupational health & safety. The criteria insured include: criteria for ingredients, criteria for the manufacturing processes, criteria for finished products.

Rain Forest Alliance

An agricultural/forestry/tourism standard that "Our green frog certification seal indicates that a farm, forest, or tourism enterprise has been audited to meet standards that require environmental, social, and economic sustainability."

Marine Stewardship Council

"We're on a mission to end overfishing. Ensure future generations can enjoy the wild seafood we love by choosing certified sustainable seafood with the blue fish label."

Carbon Fund

Carbonfund.org works with the best certification bodies in the business to deliver the highest quality offsets. These include the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standards, the American Carbon Registry, and the Verified Carbon Standard. 

Green America

Green America certifies businesses that are committed to using business as a platform for social change. Since 1982, Green America has evaluated over 8,000 small businesses.  Green businesses adopt principles, policies and practices that improve the quality of life for their customers, employees, communities, and the planet.

GreenGuard

GREENGUARD Certification is part of UL Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories). GREENGUARD Certification helps manufacturers create--and helps buyers identify--interior products and materials that have low chemical emissions, improving the quality of the air in which the products are used. All GREENGUARD Certified products are listed in the UL SPOT Sustainable Product Database.
